Description

EH&S provides radioactive waste management services to the UC Berkeley campus.EH&S picks up waste directly from laboratories or from Central Pick-up Units(CPUs), which are depositories for radioactive waste located in several campusbuildings. Refer to Section K of the Radiation SafetyLogbook for CPU locations and use restrictions. (The Radiation Safety Logbookis a reference guide to the campus Radiation Safety Manual. SectionK is dedicated to radioactive waste requirements.)

Generators of radioactive waste must follow the procedures outlined in SectionK of the Radiation Safety Logbook for preparing radioactive waste for EH&S pick-up.Generators should call in pick-up requests to (510) 642-3073.

EH&S also offers training on radioactive waste management at no-cost to campus departments. To request training or for information about packaging and labeling, contact EH&S (510) 642-3073.
